Ct (In The Game) is a MC from Kansas City, Missouri who brings it and does what he does well. “Krank Up The Volume” says the title the whole time and it’s more a song that you’d spin along with another in a DJ set. That’s where it’d shine most. “Turn Out The Lights” is way different from the last. You can hear Ct’s voice taking over and not just rhyming. “S.T.W.O.F.” takes it back to the hip hop base while “Demons&Nightmares” picks it up and tosses the others out the window. It’s a fresh track that shows what Ct can really do. It’s the best representation of his music and the others are good but this one’s the best. Base was born and raised in the Bronx in New York and you can hear the east coast influence in the hook of the song. It’s more like Jay Z in that it doesn’t rely on a club beat, but the gift of the lyrics that dive into the reality of what he’s gone through and will go through. DRE-B is an MC who does it like he’s supposed to but shows that he can rise above too. “I Got It” is such a good song and that’s because it lives up to its title. The beat is a stunner and the lyrics have so much too them in the verses that it takes a few listens to catch everything. “Hard Livin” is quite the opposite when it comes to the overall package of the song. The whole demeanor is different, calm. The message in this song is a lot deeper than you hear in a lot of today’s hip hop. It’s got a philosophical feel to it. Then you get back to the regularly scheduled pace with “I Aint Trippin” featuring DG. DRE-B gets some help from DG again along with TJ THA TEXXXAN on “The World Is Mine” and it sits somewhere in between the other songs we’ve already hit upon so far as long as pace. As far as the whole song’s concerned, it’s definitely one of the strongest. DRE-B goes hard solo but can handle his own and bring it with others on board as well. JoeCattt can’t even legally buy a drink yet, but he sounds like he’s been at the hip hop game for years with his Texas style that goes hard. “Auditory Hallucinations” starts off sounding like a beat a DJ drops and then JoeCattt comes in and it’s like a more street version of Pitbull – think of that guy minute the incessant pop fixture and just straight up hip hop. “Sellin’ Out” has a helicopter start, but never fear because it’s not loud enough to make you duck and cover. This one’s a little more about who JoeCattt is and what he’s all about. I guess every rapper has to have at least one of these declaration tracks. Guerrilla Tactics’ The Agency Operative Episode 1.5: Mission Objectives is an EP of sorts that gives you enough to keep you filled, but you can’t help but yearn for more. Thankfully he’s got a plethora of records to choose from and this is just one of them; an appetizer. Guerrilla Tactics “8 Minute Mix Down” is a chilled out track that goes between beats and makes you stay on your toes. “Score to Settle” feels like the start of the last one, but unlike “8 Minute” this one doesn’t sway in and out of different sounds. Mz. Mellow-Deez gives “So Hot” an R&B flare that’s goes well with Guerrilla Tactics’ delivery style. She’s back for another round on “Eyes of the Beholder.” Guerrilla Tactics and Mz. Champ_Ace is a MC from North Carolina who has the tools to go the distance. “Everyday” is a great piece produced by Trent Taylor. It’s one of those songs that follows a steady path and welcomes you on the walk through. It’s a story and Champ_Ace is a true storyteller. 2 Deep produced “A Dream.” It’s a bit more to take in compared to “Everyday.” It’s harder than that one and ups the energy a bit. “Younger Days” incorporates this omnipresent voice that sounds like the bad guy in a superhero movie, but he doesn’t steal the scene from Champ_Ace at all. Trent Taylor is back producing “So Brillint The Circle.” Whenever Champ_Ace teams up with Taylor, magic happens. While this isn’t like their other track together, it’s actually the total opposite and great. Champ_Ace should work more with that producer – cut a whole record together. UncImo isn’t your typical rapper and he doesn’t fit the average age, but his music is on par with the young cats in the game right now. “Bad Knee” proves that age is never an issue when it comes to being a badass in the rap game. Even when you’re 60 and your parts aren’t working as well, you can still produce music that stands tall. UncImo has the type of voice that you don’t ignore. His range is on the low side and it invites you in and demands attention on songs like “Deep In The Game.” Then you have songs like “Bust It Up” featuring Suave Bob that remind you what Lil Wayne and Co. might sound like in fifteen or twenty years; still over the top and bringing it. The energy in this track is untouchable. If you ever thought you were too old to do what you love, you’re living life wrong. You could stand to learn a lesson from UncImo. That Boi Hot is an MC who has heart, but also has a lot of power to keep it beating. “Gourmet” is about feasting on the selection of women as if they’re spread out like a buffet. The song sounded like things were layered on one another in a confusing pattern. After that song, I wasn’t expecting what came with “Fallen Rose.” It was as heartfelt as hip hop can get. It’s one of those songs that you listen to a few times to catch every line and emotion. That sensitive break comes to an end as “Walk Around” starts to play. This track walks in with a lot of attitude and a lot of oomph to back it up. The lyrics are easy to learn, but it’s the music that keeps you from walking right past this one. The pace is picked up with “I Got That” and this one may be the best you get from That Boi Hot. It’s hyper active and never has a bad moment throughout. I’m not sure what “That Pink” is about, but I do know that it’ll be stuck in my head the rest of the day. Psycho Ward Records is a hip hop label chalked full of talented MCs. Sitting pretty down in Florida for almost 10 years, Psycho Ward Records is ready for you to get to know their plethora of artists. Jay Knuckles “From Anotha Planet” is basically him telling his origin story and spitting about what he’s about and what he’s going to do with his time. Campset Slim’s “Block Ballin” has a less intimidating overall sound on the surface, but listening closely to the lyrics, you’ll find it as hard and street as what’s coming from Jay Knuckles. Speaking of, he teams up with Mercy for “Moove.” That extra “o” is so that you pay attention and do what it says. Then you have Dellion featuring Pay Pay Da Cashier on “All My Life,” which is not a remix of the KCi and JoJo hit. It’s more like a Lil Wayne track with a good beat. Psycho Ward Records offer up Champ2peezy on “Yo Cat Daddy.” This one’s more laid back than the others in the way that it’s not about the streets, but more about being in the club atmosphere.
