T Lo-Lo calls Texas home, but has her hip hop eyes set on the world. “Now I Know” tells you the backstory of this artist. She goes through her life and how it led it her to where she is now. When the song starts, it isn’t much but as it goes on T Lo-Lo impresses with a gritty delivery that’s met by very rapid pieces intertwined in between verses. For those not in to the know of who Johnny Bravo is, he was the this cartoon in the ’90s who was all about himself but was awesome. So those who know, “Johnny Bravo Sample” makes you just smile as you bounce along to the beat. We go off with “The Party Song.” This is more like a radio track than the other ones. The others are gems you uncover on an album, while this one is what gets you to buy the record. AyooiNk went from Jersey to Miami to ensure his heat stayed on top. “Hip Hop Vs. EDM” is a remix intertwining Beyonce and dance music. It’s low key though. It isn’t one of those raging raver tracks, but more demure. With “Spring Madness” you get a very enticing feminine voice and then AyooiNk comes in sounding a bit like Drake. It’s a slow jam and tells a very intricate and heartfelt story. It’s a good one that shouldn’t be missed. Things continue to go slow as “Koolin Mix Pt. 2” begins. It gets a little mid-tempo with some help from an emcee who could be mistaken for Lil Wayne. We finally get something hype from AyooiNk with “Dnt Believe Da Hype.” If you had to put two songs out to best represent the full spectrum of what he can do as an artist and creative spirit, it’d be this one and “Spring Madness.” Both are able to captivate an audience with different elements. Northern California does have a hip hop scene and the latest from out there is Jimmy Goodz. “Red Leather” featuring Dej Loaf kicks things off in a smooth way. Dej really adds a pop of light into the mix. She sounded a lot younger than him though. With “Like Water” he teamed up with Hard Hitta. In this one the beat it picked up but it still has this laid back flow to it. Between the two, I’d take this one. I like the bounce it allows. Jimmy Goodz can stand out on his own too. Alone on “Bumgarner” he spits things out fast and you have to appreciate the Transformers play on words he tosses in. It’s quick, but if you catch it, you love the nostalgia. We get back to the friends with “Workout” and “The Method” with cameos by Roze and Bayon. On “Workout” it’s like something you’d hear on the radio, minus the f-bomb. Then with the other things are taken down. At this point it’s clear that Jimmy likes to keep things tight. Everything has a purpose in his music and he’s not just going to go off and get turnt up because that’s what’s going on in the scene. He’s playing it cool and it’s paying off. You'll Be Glad You Checked Out Cyzle

There have been a lot of men on here lately so it’s about time we get a female emcee in the mix. Today we’re focusing our attention on Cyzle. She’s bringing it, so prepare to receive it. “This is for the Ladies” bursts the gates open as you’re introduced to an artist who does not step lightly. It’s fast and fierce. What’s great about “Glad He Did” is that it’s not a song about a girl sitting around sad about a breakup, but an empowering song after a split. It’s different from the crowd and it screams “girl power.” As we go from a feminist anthem we head into “Taste! Proceed with Caution” and this one has an overall naughty, but nice feel to it. The sensuality cleans up with “Bye Bye Baby.” The beat has that R&B vibe, but it’s not a sexy song, but rather a heartfelt ditty. We have to wind down with “Victorious.” It’s not an ode to the Nickelodeon show, but it’s definitely a show stopper. Like with “This is for the Ladies,” this one is on the attack. Player Dee Heads for the Top

Player Dee is bound to be taking over the charts sooner than later. It’s always nice to get out the gate with a jam and that’s what happened when I hit play on the first track from this emcee. “Yo Body” doesn’t waste time getting to its point. It’s a song for a lady and it’s got a good beat and flows nicely. We go from praising the ladies to incorporating their vocals for the hood to “Smells Like Money.” Who doesn’t want to relate to this one? The same can be said of “We Gettin It” as well. Then we have Player Dee stepping it up with “Try.” This one ups the energy and it shows. We get cute with “Candy Cars.” It samples the classic “Candy Girls” and just puts a smile on your face with the beat alone. One of the best to come from this guy though is “All I Need.” It reminds me of something that throws it back old school - to maybe the early 2000’s - and would be a hit. The same kind of hits that’d constantly come with Ja Rule teaming up with Ashanti. Today we’re getting an array of artists from DA12WATCHPRODUCTIONS. Big Marc and Heat serve up some Nas-like realness with “Love Is Love.” Heat continues to give us what he can with “I Gotta B Me.” This one has that same feel but brings more energy. We step away from Heat to give another artist some spotlight. This time we’re hearing from QIY and “Body Rock.” This one puts you in a trance. It never has a full on hip hop feel like the others, but more experimental, ’80s. Then we head towards the Gospel at the start of Ginsu’s “Street Lights” but then it gets into a rhythm of things. We end with a very interesting choice. Madscientists’ “One Man Band” is an instrumental beat that at times sounds like it could be in Fantasia but an urban remake once you break it down. You don’t have to go overboard to make a statement. That’s exactly how Amadeus G is doing it. We start this one off with “Rakis” featuring the skills of G-On It. I thought the title would mean this was one of those songs that goes off, instead it’s very chill. A new one from this year, “Nothin New.” This one too is very laid back. It steps up a bit but not much. Rellek Beat produced “Savage” and with this one Amadeus G. Those two together create good things. This one really showcases a hint of a different side of who he can be as an artist. One that you can listen to on repeat is “Money On My Mind.” Why do I say that, because that is the truth to my reality. It comes across easy and I think is a the best way to get to know Amadeus G. Finley Doe is coming at you from Chattanooga, so get ready. “Really Doe” is where we’re going to start with this musical excursion. It’s a chill one to begin with. As we roll onto “Da Same” we pick things up a bit, but it’s clear at this point that Finley Doe is a laid back emcee. Something we can all relate to comes through in “Don’t Judge Me.” Who doesn’t say that sentiment? Finley picks it up in the delivery here but it still has this cool demeanor to it. You get to bounce with “Makin Moves” while “Stress (All I Been Thinkn Bout” is another one that strikes a chord universally. “When I Ride” may be the strongest from this batch baked by Finley Doe. It’s the full package; lyrics on point, beat in tact and pace that doesn’t quit. Truelly Smoove is an artist to watch in hip hop and you’ll have to keep reading on to find out why. “Fuck Sum’n” has the swag of an Usher song but an energy that’s all Truelly Smoove. It has a great beat and if it wasn’t for the f-bomb it’d be on the radio today. Maybe we can get a radio friendly version to groove to on the airwaves? With “Trickin (Bust a Band)” you’re introduced to a guest artist that comes fast and it captures you quick. There’s no time to think, you’re instantly invested in this track. While the latter was more pop R&B based, this one has hip hop written all over it in the verses. As we travel deeper into Truelly Smoove we get more into his overall feel. I think “Carla Starr” is the best representation of who he is as an artist. It’s a fresh track that has an understated beat. We’re going to end this on a hype note with “Spilled My Drink” featuring Piccalo. It’s one of those songs that is about a moment. It’s not going to change lives but it’s fun as hell to sing along to. Fresh Face: D.Daniels

You don’t need to head down to New Orleans to hear D.Daniels. We got his jams right here, right now. “Faded(DeMix)” is a good back and forth between a guy and gal. It’s well done and D.Daniels might remind some of Childish Gambino at times throughout that one. Get In Touch with G-LAMAR

Ever heard of Lubbock, Texas? Well it’s where G-LAMAR is sitting spitting rhymes and just in time for you to check him out. “Swing My Way” has a great hook but the verses don’t quite match up. The hook comes through light while G-LAMAR comes at you very low key. When you get to “F.CK U” you get a more intense musical experience from this emcee. You can hear the intimidation he brings forth. What’s great is that every time you click a new joint, you get a different side of G-LAMAR. We’ve had low key, aggressive and with “Armani” it’s a little more pop driven - well as pop as one can get without getting too Top 40. It still has some street to it. As this musical journey continues and we get to “Tropic” and “So Strong” we land on “Whippin Zips.” This one stands out as a full package song. It has a great beat, hook and delivery. Pulling Out All the Stops with Cali Yun-Gun

Cali Yun-Gun is coming at you straight from the Golden Coast. “Kisses On Me” is where we start this musical endeavor with this emcee from Santa Cruz, California. It’s a great place to start because it sounds like a professionally done track you’d hear playing on the radio. It’s pristine from start to finish. It kind of reminds me of something Ray J would do because of the light hip hop and the hooks. Then we get into “Played so Hard, Prayed so Long.” In just two tracks you can hear this artist’s attention to detail. Things get a little sexy with “Way She Put It Down,” and then have some company with “What Dat Cali Like” thanks to guest appearances from Taj He Spitz and Macc Milliaon. One of the best out of all that Cali Yun-Gun has to offer comes from “I Am That” featuring Hazel Doll and Young Kcaz. What’s appreciated here is the quick pace of the lyrics and the beat. We’ll end this on a high note with “Victory.” This track is a good one to go out on not only because it’ll remind hip hop fans a bit of Nas and because it tells a story of reality. MURDA 1: Lost Soul

MURDA 1’s “Lost Soul” is a record overflowing with hits and jams. We kick off this record with the intro and it’s framed with intimidation but then a freestyle comes through and it plays out wonderfully as it goes into something a bit more constructed with a beat. It’s not exactly the John Travolta classic but this “Face-Off” is well, better than that weird movie. Anyways the delivery here is what’s key. I like the pace at which MURDA 1 brings the words to the forefront. There are a lot of great guests on this record from Skoob & Redd on “No Other Way” to just Redd on “My Gang.” That one really gets to the point with repetition. Parents will like “Ask No Questions,” well parents into hip hop because they can relate to the title. You know you’re in for a treat with “Real Niggas Only” based upon the intro alone. C Physics Dreams Big

Out in Ohio sits C Physics and he’s trying his best to make his presence known world wide. “This is Real Life” is all about that sentiment. Everyone with a dream of skipping out on their own town for the big time can relate to every word in this one. Failure is not an option when it comes to going for your dream. With “Take It Slow” you don’t get that universal “I can do it” attitude, but you do get a song that has a R&B base and a sensual feel. The intro of “Dreamers” is good with the monologue but we go back to that universal feel of “This is Real Life” with “Dreamers.” It is a very positive message to deliver to the masses. What was unexpected though from C Physics? This homage to “Seinfeld” at the start of “More Than Friends.” Hey, that’s what’s great about hip hop, the influences and samples can come from anywhere and it works. We get a little hard with “Don’t Sleep.” This one stands out from all of the above because it’s not a sexy song or one that’s about making it. It just has a great beat and the rhymes stand up tall. All in all though, C Physics’ songs that have to do with his dreams and whatnot are the best. You can’t help but love his drive, so help him take his game out of Ohio and check him out now. Rabanales: Real Hip Hop

Rabanales’ “Real Hip Hop” comes at you from Tennessee. The record kicks off with “Alpha Omega.” The most interesting part of this song is that old school record player feel it has. The background music makes it sound like it’s an album spinning on a record player from the prohibition era. “I Need You” also has this classic feel to it. Rabanales really knows how to pay homage to what came before him. The rhymes are great, but what is really great about this EP is that old school vibe. That stops though once we wrap up “Real Hip Hop” with “Collective Thoughts.” It’s like this journey through time and then he ends with the modern era with just a handful of songs. Rod Raps the Alternative

Rod is an emcee who isn’t afraid to go for it. “Wake Up” featuring Ruthy La La is a fast paced ride. It’s a look at the world and what’s going on and the problems there are out there and Ruthy helps string together Rod’s words with a beautiful, soulful performance. In “Because To God JESUS I Pray” has him bringing that same rhyme game you heard in the latter but then his pals featured on this one make it have this unexpected Reggae vibe. We step away from all that to get into “Fight’n Words.” This one has the best beat of the bunch. It sounds very sci-fi movie, like an alien is creeping somewhere in the shadows and it has a solid line that you’ll repeat for sure, “french toast of the west coast.” Wrapping up this rapper’s songs we have “So What’ it to You.” The delivery of this one kind of comes through like a conversation at times but overall it comes in second the “Fight’n Words.” All in all Rod’s music can be summed up as hip hop with a bit of an experimental twist.
